Narf

Everybody loves Narf! He's a dragon! And from Wales! And happy! All the time! Even though he has been known to die violently from time to time! No one is sure why Narf is so consistently unfortunate, but he has yet to stop smiling. That's Narf for you. Smiling through adversity! Mysteriously coming back after dying! I suggest adopting him as a role model.

Fortunately for Narf, he now has a spiffy 3-D online cave to live in. As soon as it's finished, he'll move out of the microwave. Narf decided to start Narf's Cavern one lonely day when Chris had gone off to "work." You can read the full story in children's book format here:

The Story of Narf's Cavern

Narf is originally from Caernarfon Castle in Wales (that's where he got his name from!), and Chris met him in a souvenir store one historic day. Narf and Chris went everywhere together that semester in London, Narf getting into trouble, death, and dates with American girls, and Chris taking pictures of him in a detached and bemused fashion. You can see Narf's introduction to the Internet in C-File 100, the Adventures of Narf!

Chris

Chris is Narf's master, and the source of all the wonderful treasures tucked away in Narf's Cavern. He creates musicals, short fiction, songs, and video games, many of which Narf has placed in the cavern for all to see.

Many of the treasures used to be in a rather splendid facility known as the "Creative Lavatory," but Narf had a better idea. The Lavatory is gone now (or is it?), but the treasures are slowly getting moved to their new home.

Chris (occasionally referred to as "Chris Guin") is a 24-year-old software engineer in Massachusetts who doesn't actually have enough time on his hands to make websites like this, but through a miraculous process called "aggressive procrastination," has made the time.

A graduate of Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and with a brand-spanking new Masters from Tufts University, Chris is now working full time in Cambridge while trying to live out the gospel in Quincy, Massachussetts with several friends from Harding. He's into computer science, Broadway, and World of Warcraft. Also, he is conservative, Christian, and cynical. He likes it when people write nice things in the guestbook. This is because he is a praise monger. Please feed his habit.

Links

  • Hugglebunny.com - The fun home page for Narf's friend Beth Lambert. Beth went to England with Chris and Narf, and occasionally people from the trip will show up in her Beth Comics. I recommend them highly.
  • National Review Online - The internet headquarters for evil conservatives such as me. I ripped off Jonah Goldberg's G-File for my own humor essays, although I took out the part where they are informative and anyone wants to read them.
  • Zits - One of the few remaining comic strips worth reading. I also recommend Mallard Fillmore and Sherman's Lagoon. Good stuff.
  • Steyn Online - Conservative columnist Mark Steyn rocks.
  • Dave Barry - I love Dave Barry so much I may or may not have ripped off his writing style in its entirety! Too bad he's on sabbatical.
